A “gotcha” moment

Sarah Palin in Savannah, Georgia, Dec 1, 2008 ...

As they gather around the releasing of emails in the history of ex governor Sarah Palin we can only speculate why this story appears to be so interesting to everyone around us. Is it merely a case of the left leaning media seeing an opportunity to cut Palin off at the knees before she makes a run for office or do they really think that the ex-governor would have been that daft to put information to paper (or emails in this case) so that there would be a paper trail of how incompetent they think that she really is?  Maybe they are in search of a “gotcha” moment and they are expecting the tea party sweetheart to provide it for them.

A waste of taxpayers money

English: Cropped photo of Rod Blagovitch greet...

With all the other political and financial problems that we as a society are experiencing one would wonder why the state of Illinois is diverting such efforts to its ousted governor Rod Blagojevich as he continues to experience a lonely time after his alleged illegal practices. Take a look around you as other leaders are committing the same sorts of crimes and are getting off Scott free while moving on to bigger and brighter futures. While Rod and his family are being hung out to dry in the city of Al Capone the only thing that the rest of the country can do is to wait and watch as the prosecutor plans to take Blagojevich back to court because he failed to convince the jury the first time around.  What an utter waste of taxpayers money.

A new plan of action

Soyuz is the longest serving manned spacecraft... Get used to headlines like "Soyuz docks with space station" in the future because now that NASA is removing themselves from the space transportation business such travel will take place from outside countries that may or may not have a strong allegiance to the United States. With the last shuttle gearing up for its final flight to the International Space station and the Endeavor preparing to be moth balled there will no longer be that familiar flame shooting through the early morning sky or that holding of the breath as the shuttle takes off or when the words are spoken, “go to throttle up.” It is time to turn the pages of time to a new plan of action.

A force to be reckoned with

Morgan Freeman, Academy Award-winning American...
You may know him from movies such as “The Shawshank Redemption”, “Seven”, “The Dark Night” and even “The Electric company” which aired in the early 70s but however you remember him the fact that Morgan Freeman was honored was a long time in coming. In a recent Lifetime Achievement Award ceremony, the powerful and likable actor was recognized for his role in society along with his inspiration to those coming up behind him. A few of my favorite movies with Freeman was “Along came the Spider”, “The Sum of all Fears” and of course “The Shawshank Redemption.” Born in the late nineteen thirties Freeman also served in the Air force as a mechanic.

Soyuz Docks With Space Station

A Russian capsule carrying three astronauts from three countries docked at the International Space Station on Thursday. The linkup ended a two-day trip for the Soyuz spacecraft that launched from Kazakhstan.

A Lonely Time

Ousted Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich told reporters after jurors got his case at his corruption retrial that he's relieved he had a chance to speak in court.

Releasing the emails

Alaska is poised to release more than 24,000 pages of emails Friday from the first 21 months of former governor Sarah Palin's administration. Citizens and news organizations first requested the emails during the 2008 White House race.

Low expectations

Dodd and John Edwards got into a war of ads in...
And then there is John Edwards. When I first heard Edwards talk as an individual seeking to lead the United States of America I thought to myself, finally the left has found someone who has integrity and responsibility to lead this country. Only to find out that he was just as bad as his predecessor, Bill Clinton. Edwards claims that he did not break the law and while that may be  the case it will be a matter for a jury to decide. Unfortunately if the President of the United States could be allowed to carry on in such a disrespectful manner with one of his interns, I don't see how we can suggest that Edwards or Weiner could be expected to do anything other than  what they did.

A responsible person

Anthony Weiner
After his initial denial and suggestion that his tweet account was hacked, Rep. Anthony Weiner admits tweeting the offensive images himself. Before anyone decides that I am playing holier than though when I accuse this individual of being a pervert let me admit for for all to here, “I am a sinner!” The difference between myself and the good representative is that I am not a leader or someone who is expected to be held to a higher standard and I certainly would NOT continue in my role as a leader if I knew that I was involved in such a sick practice. This is the reason why our country has lost all its morals because when the up and coming generation see people like Weiner flashing images of himself they think that its perfectly alright. Weiner should do the right thing and resign if only to show his peers that he knows what he did was wrong and he is a responsible person.

Completing a mission

The Hawaii state seal.
The United states Navy has been used for several purposes not the least of which is protecting the country. Name any war and you will see that their involvement has been strong and in the forefront, whether it was to transport large amounts of marines from one point to another or whether they served as peace keepers and transport platforms for the air-force they have always been front and center in the service of this great nation. Its recent charge to dispose of the remains of one of this countries most wanted enemies preceded a stop in Hawaii where it's personnel was visibly proud of its accomplishments. Hopefully no backlash will occur after it was determined which vessel carried out the mission.

Certain to upset the banking industry

It has long since been agreed that the use of credit and debit cards as a means of opening doors for customers and increasing sales at a steady clip. Sadly the popularity of these purchases is causing eyebrows to raise not because of the benefits to business owners but by the benefits to the banking industry. With the cost of card use per year averaging in the hundreds of dollars the federal government is looking to keep debit card fees trimmed by placing a cap on the amount that it can charge of 12 cents per transaction a fact that is certain to upset the banking industry which is already up to about 44 cents in some instances.

Speaking with one voice

President George W. Bush signs The Flight 93 N... As the GOP presidential race begins to take shape another staunch conservative with values that most Christians live by such as stopping abortion, (sometimes referred to as murder of innocent babies) gay marriage and embryonic stem cell research (another form of murder) has thrown his hat in the ring. Rick Santorum the former Pennsylvanian senator has been out of public office for close to four years now but with the support he has been receiving has determined that 2012 is the time to return. Hopefully by the time the elections have been completed in 2012 the Republicans will once again be speaking with one voice.

The practice needs to stop

Dodd and John Edwards got into a war of ads in...
There is never a good reason for having an affair and for those who choose to go down that road there is every likelihood that they will get caught. The evil deed gets that much worse when it is done by religious leaders and politicians and they decide to use donations or public funding as affair money. The recent indictment by the federal grand jury of former presidential nominee John Edwards was a long time coming after he allegedly used public funds (meant for his presidential run) to keep his mistress quiet about a sordid affair that he was carrying on. Whether it is Arnold Schwarzenegger or John Edwards the practice needs to stop and these individuals must be made to pay back every dime or are we to assume that they are above the law.

Your best interest at heart

You may know him as doctor death and to many he was considered as a man who had their best interest at heart. If you knew that yours was a terminal disease and you did not want to 'hang around' and wait for the disease to run its course you could have contacted the good doctor and he would have facilitated an easy exit for you and at your timetable. Then the law got involved and decided that the good doctor was committing murder and he was sent to prison where he stayed until 2007 when he was released on parole. After an unsuccessful run for congress, now at 83 years old Jack Kevorkian is dead.

Making a relationship work

The more we seek to find out if there is love in the cards the less we seem to find it. In this day and age men and women jump through all sorts of hoops to find their perfect mate only to lose interest in them after a few years of passion. It seems as though we have no concept of what we are looking for but we know that we are looking for something. If we spend half the amount of time we do on trying to make a relationship work as we spend on trying to find one we may find that our need to go in search of that special someone will be drastically reduced.

Jack Kevorkian is dead

Assisted suicide advocate Jack Kevorkian died in a Detroit area hospital following a short illness at the age of 83.

Just plain sick

When you read headlines like 'Man kills 5 then takes his own life' all sorts of questions immediately come to mind, for one thing what sort of life was he living to cause him to crack the way that he did. Suicide is a bad enough decision to make but when you decide that you want to take a bunch of people with you it is then that you have crossed the line. Because we know that not everyone is strong willed enough to stay the course (for whatever the reason) we tend to be a bit more understanding when we hear that someone took their own life but it is selfish act of taking others with you that makes you just plain sick!

A surprise in itself

Seal of Ohio
In this day and age where the economy continues to be as tough as it is we should all consider it as a surprise when we hear about a 98 year old bank account, especially when the owner of that account is still alive. An Ohio woman has owned a savings account for just such a time and other than when the bank changed hands to Huntington the account continued to remain with the same account number. With the way banks keep getting bought out the fact that only one change took place during that time is a surprise in itself.

Another story altogether

The main cellblock taken by ghostieguide dec 2...
Confinement of a human being is one of the most unnatural and unacceptable forms of punishment that can be instilled on them in fact some may look on confinement as a form of torture. People who commitment crimes are forced to endure confinement for an extended period of time. Depending on the crime that is committed the period of confinement can vary and in fact could last from months in county jail to life in prison. Some individuals may prefer to receive the death penalty before being committed to spend the rest of their life in prison but that is another story altogether.

Solving the problem

The War on Drugs
The United States of America has many wars that it is involved in and they are probably not to certain if they are winning any of them. One thing is for sure though the drug war failed long before it started and that could be due to the fact that their approach is all wrong. I am pretty sure that the the powers that be do not see it that way but when you really think about it so long as everyone else realizes that a different approach is needed that is all that should matter, right? Wrong! Please don't suggest that because we are losing the war on drugs that we should simply throw up our hands and give up by legalizing the drug that will never solve the problem, it will simply expand it.

Man Kills 5 Before Taking Own Life

A 73-year-old man's shooting rampage in towns near the Arizona border left six people dead Thursday, including the suspect and the attorney who represented his ex-wife in their divorce.

An Ohio woman who just turned 100 years old has taken customer loyalty to the extreme: She's still using a bank savings account that's been around almost as long as she has, since a couple of years before World War I.

Life in Prison

Jaycee Dugard refused to "waste another second" in the presence of the married couple she said stole her life. She didn't want to be in the courtroom Thursday as Phillip Garrido was ordered to spend the rest of his life in prison.

Changing the subject

2011 05 01 - 2588 - Washington DC - Osama Cele...
On his last stop in Europe our beloved leader must have been biting his nails as he saw his mini vacation coming to an end. Next stop, the United States where a few years ago he assured the American people that he would be providing them with all sorts of changes from what they had become accustomed to. I guess he forgot to tell us that the changes he was talking about would end up crippling this country both financially and politically. There is not much time left for him to prove that he will be able to deliver on that promise and unless I miss my guess even the apprehension of Osama Bin Laden will not change the subject.

Collect some kudos

Vice President Joe Biden L'68
I have always thought that the criteria to be a successful leader is the ability to shovel a line of “you know what”. Amazingly even the smallest success in one sector of the economy seems to make our current leadership believe that they are working miracles. Apparently with the auto industry recovering VP Biden is taking the credit for a major turn around in our economy even though there are more people being thrown out on the street than ever before. I guess it must be the fact that things are so bad today that if one company shows any improvement then the present leadership can collect some kudos.

The opposite direction.

It has been almost three years and the leaders of this great nation have done nothing to help improve the status of its falling employment numbers. It seems painfully evident to the average citizen in this country that unless we encourage businesses to be successful rather than penalize them for trying to survive we will never dig ourselves out from the hole that we are in. Certain leaders would much prefer to saddle themselves on the successful (and not so successful) businesses as they are stifled to death by rules and regulations and heavy taxation. Will that policy help us move forward, I doubt it, so far it seems to have gone in a completely opposite direction.
